Falls
2010 / 2022
chrome tripod, cinderblock, found photograph, graphite, soot ink
60” x 8” x 12”
*A concrete brick mounted on a tripod a few inches away from the gallery wall is a viewing device for a photograph mounted behind it on the wall. First exhibited in 2010 at the Museum of Fine Arts Houston, Falls was re-articulated for exhibition at the University of Houston in 2022 when the photograph of the waterfall had to be repaired due to water damage from a major freeze in Houston (in 2021). The new-old photograph incorporates drawing and ink additions. The ink was made with the remains of other artworks I lost in the freeze. Falls remains an important source for the “Seeing in the Dark” explorations I propose in my statement of plans.
